I grew up in a beautiful place in Nova Scotia called the Annapolis Valley. During the fall, the Town of Kentville holds a pumpkin people festival. A lot of people from the town participate and they hold workshops to teach how to build pumpkin people. Each year the festival has a theme and the pumpkins are dressed up or made to incorporate the theme. It's great fun to drive around and see / take pictures with the many, many pumpkin people.
Here is a Wario Pumpkin Person racing with the other characters from Mario.
Here's me with Princess Peach Pumpkin Person.
Now that you've heard of the Pumpkin People you MUST read the book "Pumpkin People" by Sandra and Ron Lightburn. It's a book based on the Pumpkin People festival and your class will LOVE it!
I decided since it's fall and I am back on the sub list, I would create some activities to go with the book in case I walk into a classroom and there's no activities left for me to do with the kids.
I thought I'd share them with you! I sure hope you can get your hands on a copy of this awesome book!
