Well I've made my first project for a customer (also a friend :) )! She wanted to take a photo of her students on the first day of school, as many teachers do so I made her a frame to do so. The great thing about the frame is it can be used from grade to grade. I started out by going to value village and finding a frame that would do the trick. I found this sturdy frame for $1.99 (now that's a steal of a deal!)

Once I got the frame home, I took out the glass and painted the frame white (any color of your choice would work). I did about 4 coats as the darker wood was harder to cover up. Once finished with the white, I painted a coat of black on the back of the frame, just for looks. I cut out the letters "First Day of Grade" on my cricut and went to town placing them different ways on the frame. Once I found a way I liked I glued them down using Aleene's tacky glue (my favorite glue around). After, I got to thinking, what if she wants to use this frame another year, in another grade? That's when I decided to put the stars with the grade level on them on magnets so they can be interchangeable for other years.
Once the stars were made, the project was complete and I am pretty happy with the finished product! I hope she enjoys it just as much :) Who wouldn't enjoy this frame, already made for them for $10! (another steal of a deal).
And just so you can see the frame put to use, I had to try it myself before I gave it away!
Happy Back to School :) :)
