The Gruffalo

I team taught with this lovely teacher and at the end of the she had given me the book "The Gruffalo" by Julia Donaldson and had all the children in the class sign the book. It was a fabulous idea and an even more fabulous book! If you haven't read this one before, you must! I have attached an activity we did with the students while reading The Gruffalo. 

Before you begin with the students be sure to cover the book (I put mine inside a brown folder as I read). Tell the students you are going to read them a book called "The Gruffalo" and while you read they need to draw the gruffalo based on the descriptions of him. (I read the book once without showing any pictures and once they were done their drawings I re-read the story). The students LOVED this book and on a later day we also read "The Gruffalo's Child".
